Lionsgate‘s acclaimed comedy-drama starring Rachel McAdams has finally found a new streaming home. Since its debut in 2023, the film has maintained its 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the Mean Girls alum’s highest-rated movie to date.

What Rachel McAdams movie is now available on Hulu?

Beginning today, McAdams’s 2023 coming-of-age movie Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is now finally available to stream on Hulu. The film was based on Judy Blume’s timeless novel of the same name, which was first published in 1970. Besides McAdams, the ensemble cast also included Abby Ryder Fortson, Kathy Bates, Benny Safdie, Elle Graham, Amari Price, Katherine Kupferer, Isol Young, Simms May, Echo Kellum, Landon Baxter, Kate MacCluggage, and more.

“In Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation, 11-year-old Margaret is uprooted from her life in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey, going through the messy and tumultuous throes of puberty with new friends in a new school,” reads the synopsis. “She relies on her mother, Barbara, who is also struggling to adjust to life outside the big city, and her adoring grandmother, Sylvia, who isn’t happy they moved away and likes to remind them every chance she gets.”

The movie adaptation was written, directed, and produced by The Edge of Seventeen’s Kelly Fremon Craig. It was produced by Academy Award-winning producer James L. Brooks for Gracie Films, along with Blume, Julie Ansell, Richard Sakai, Aldric La’auli Porter, and Amy Brooks. It is also executive-produced by Jonathan McCoy. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, the film didn’t perform well at the box office, as it only grossed around over $21 million globally.
