Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 Gets Unsurprising Response From Marvel Stars

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapped up James Gunn‘s popular trilogy, which began in 2014. Since then, there has been lingering curiosity about the future of the spacefaring superhero series. The fact that the third installment ended with the formation of a new team and the promise of Chris Pratt’s return as Star-Lord has only raised questions about when they will be seen again. Recently, some of the franchise’s stars addressed the possibility of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4.

Pom Klementieff and more on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4

Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Mikaela Hoover, and Pom Klementieff, who play Kraglin, Yondu, and Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, respectively, recently participated in a panel discussion at Emerald City Comic-Con. At the event, also attended by CBR, they were asked if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 would happen.

“I don’t know,” Klementieff replied. She noted discussions about a fourth installment never took place, adding that the series “was always imagined as a trilogy.”

Gunn chimed in, saying, “In some ways, it’s almost like a little above my pay grade.” He pointed out that if Marvel Studios decided to pursue a fourth movie and work everything out, from casting to the script, it would hinge on the screenwriter and the person bringing everything together. “And by that point, there would probably already be somebody who was part of it,” he continued. “So I don’t know.”

Meanwhile, Rooker stressed that Marvel should let the franchise end strong. “The third one was incredible,” he stated. “But also heartbreaking because we knew it would be the last one, so it’s really special that way.” He then fondly recalled shooting the Guardians of the Galaxy: The Christmas Special, saying it was “fun to shoot,” and he “loved it.”

The actor expressed contentment that the series ended how it did and didn’t continue, stressing it would have become like another franchise he was part of, The Walking Dead, which experienced a quality decline as it went on.

“Thank goodness it didn’t go on further… It would become like The Walking Dead… Please, enough already,” he shared.
