Harvey Weinstein Says His Crimes Are ‘Nothing’ Like Jeffrey Epstein’s

Former Hollywood producer and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein recently clarified his connections with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted child sex offender. He admitted to having met Epstein, while emphasizing the difference between their crimes.

Harvey Weinstein reveals if he was friends with Jeffrey Epstein

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harvey Weinstein briefly spoke about his allegations and connection to Jeffrey Epstein. When asked, he admitted that he “ran into” Epstein “once or twice,” but was not part of his circle. “We certainly were not friends,” he clarified.

The reporter then asked the former producer about his thoughts on the global attention that Epstein’s case has garnered, and whether he believes Epstein was “innocent.” Weinstein responded, saying that he knows only what has been published in the newspapers.

He also expressed not having “a lot of faith” in the media or prosecutors. Nonetheless, he said that charges against Epstein “are really awful,” adding, “they’re nothing at all like mine.”

Weinstein’s comments come amid the ongoing U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific crimes. Earlier this year, the DOJ released millions of files regarding the case. Although most of them are redacted, they reveal Epstein’s connections to several high-profile figures.

Meanwhile, Weinstein is currently behind bars at Rikers Island, New York City, awaiting a retrial on one remaining sexual allegation charge. In October 2017, the New York Times published an article alleging that Weinstein had sexually harassed and assaulted multiple women for decades. The outlet also claimed that he had paid settlements to silence them. The article reportedly ignited the #MeToo movement.

Subsequently, the authorities launched an investigation. On May 25, 2018, he was first criminally charged with rape, criminal sexual act, and sex‑abuse counts related to two women (via Fox News). He is currently serving his 16-year California sentence while also facing sentencing and possible retrial on unresolved New York charges.
