Latest Jeopardy! episode roasts Timothée Chalamet
Jeopardy! took to Instagram to share a clip from a recent episode, where the host tested contestants’ knowledge in the ballet and opera category. As he posed the clues in riddle-like form, the contestants responded with the correct answers in the form of a question. The caption read, “NOBODY @ HIM.” This was followed by two hashtags, one of Jeopardy! and another of Timothee Chalamet.
This subtle dig comes amid Chalamet’s controversial comments about the two art forms during his speech at the University of Texas, back in February. Reflecting on his thoughts on keeping the magic of movie theaters alive, he said, “I admire people, and I’ve done it myself, who go on a talk show and go, ‘Hey, we gotta keep movie theaters alive. You know, we gotta keep this genre alive. And another part of me feels like, if people want to see it, like Barbie, like Oppenheimer, they’re going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it.”
He then went on to state the reason why he doesn’t wish to ever work for ballet and opera. “And I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive,’ even though it’s like, no one cares about this anymore,” he elaborated. Acknowledging those who practice these art forms and the impact his comments might have on viewers, he said, “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.” The recent post by the Jeopardy! page drew significant attention, with many viewers praising the show for subtly referencing and calling out the actor over his remarks.
