War Machine’s RT Score Is Opposite of Alan Ritchson’s Reacher
The reviews and Rotten Tomatoes score for Alan Ritchson‘s latest movie on Netflix, War Machine, are here. However, they are comparatively lower than those of his hit Amazon Prime Video series, Reacher. The film, which had a limited theatrical release in Australia on February 12, 2026, dropped on Netflix recently. The story, set in an incredibly demanding special ops boot camp, follows a group of soldiers going up against a terrifying machine.
War Machine reviews and Rotten Tomatoes score revealed
The reviews for Netflix’s War Machine, directed by Patrick Hughes, are primarily positive. As a result, the action-adventure sci-fi feature has 69% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this is considerably lower than, and nearly the opposite of, Reacher’s score of 96%.
Maxance Vincent of The Cosmic Circus noted that the film let Hughes go all in on showcasing his skill as an action movie director.
Meanwhile, Collider‘s Aidan Kelley stated in his review that the film is “a fun enough adventure that streaming fans should find a good amount of enjoyment in,” even if it isn’t Alan Ritchson’s “breakout actioner that will finally put him on the filmmaking map.”
JoBlo‘s Alex Maidy wrote, “War Machine is a fun and action-packed throwback that is one of the better action movies in recent memory. You will come to see a hero fight a giant robot alien, and you will not be disappointed. This is not a movie that changes the genre, but it exemplifies how to do action right.”
However, not all reviews were positive. Joonatan Itkonen of Region Free called the film “the worst kind of bad movie.” He wrote, “It’s too dour to have any fun, and just on the wrong side of competent to elicit any laughs, intentional or otherwise.”
In addition to directing the film, Patrick Hughes co-wrote it with James Beaufort. He also wrote the story and co-produced it with Todd Lieberman and Alex Young.
Apart from Ritchson, War Machine stars Stephan James, Blake Richardson, Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales, Jai Courtney, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jack Patten, and Daniel Webber, among many others.
