Quentin Tarantino’s Next Project Gets Surprising First Details
The first details for Quentin Tarantino‘s next project have been revealed, and it’s not for a movie.
What is Quentin Tarantino’s next project?
Tarantino is heading to London’s West End with a new play. According to The Daily Mail, Tarantino’s play has been described as an “original, old-fashioned British farce in the door-slamming, trouser-dropping, mistaken-identity vein of Brian Rix or Ray Cooney.”
Tarantino’s play is eyeing a 2027 debut. However, late 2026 is a possibility. As for what the play is about, The Daily Mail’s source said, “He has written this himself. It is not based on any of his films. It is a farce, in the British Noises Off tradition.”
Tarantino is currently exploring theaters and determining the cast, which should attract “big Hollywood stars.” The Daily Mail mentions Bradley Cooper, who has a theatrical background, as a potential candidate to lead the play.
Tarantino first teased news of his play during a conversation at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
“If you’re wondering what I’m doing right now, I’m writing a play, and it’s going to be probably the next thing I end up doing,” Tarantino said via NME. “If it’s a fiasco, I probably won’t turn it into a movie. But if it’s a smash hit? It might be my last movie.”
Speaking of cinema, Tarantino has been pondering what should be his 10th and final movie. The Movie Critic was the leading candidate for Tarantino’s farewell. Tarantino originally wrote The Movie Critic as an eight-episode television show. However, the Pulp Fiction filmmaker reworked the TV show into a movie. After careful consideration, Tarantino decided not to make The Movie Critic.
“There was nothing to figure out [with The Movie Critic] because I already kind of knew more or less how to turn LA into an older time,” Tarantino said. “So it just was too much like the last one.”
Tarantino penned the screenplay for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which will see Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role from Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. Directed by David Fincher, The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be released in theaters and stream on Netflix later this year.
