Hoppers: New Pixar Movie Is Best Enjoyed Knowing This Beforehand
With Hoppers being released this weekend, there are a few things Pixar fans may want to know about the movie before walking into the theater.
Hoppers is the new animated sci-fi comedy movie from Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. The movie is directed by We Bare Bears’ Daniel Chong and features Piper Curda as the voice of Mabel Tanaka.
The synopsis reads, “What if you could talk to animals and understand what they’re saying? In Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film Hoppers, scientists have discovered how to ‘hop’ human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals! The adventure introduces Mabel, an animal lover who seizes an opportunity to use the technology, uncovering mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined.”
What should people know about Hoppers before watching it?
While, in general, Hoppers should please a variety of different age ranges, there are a few intense moments in the film that may prove to be a bit much for younger children. Of course, given that it’s a Pixar movie, it’s no surprise that this may be willing to wade deeper into territory that’s a bit heavier than you might see in animated flicks, but there are also moments when some cute, adorable-looking creatures are in danger, and those who are sensitive to that kind of thing may want to prepare themselves.
Many of the reviews for Hoppers have been praising the movie for being a bonkers, off-the-wall kind of adventure film. While this is true, it’s also worth noting that Hoppers has a bit of a slow build, and it’s not until the second half that things start to get truly weird.
Lastly, Hoppers is full of recognizable voices, but given that it’s animated, it may be difficult to place who is who when watching the movie. The beaver monarch King George is voiced by SNL’s Bobby Moynihan, the town’s mayor is voiced by Jon Hamm, Stranger Things’ Eduardo Franco voices the beaver Loaf, Meryl Streep voices the butterfly monarch, and Dave Franco voices the grown-up version of the butterfly monarch’s child.
Thursday night showings of Hoppers begin tonight.
