What happens in the Lorne trailer?
The trailer dives into the history behind Michaels and how Saturday Night Live came to be. In 1975, Michaels created the sketch comedy show, which was developed by both Michaels and Dick Ebersol.
Since then, the show has become a staple of television and airs weekly every Saturday night at 11 p.m. EST. To date, the show has had over 1,000 episodes air across 51 seasons, the 51st of which is currently airing weekly on NBC.
Lorne isn’t the only recent movie that chronicles the history behind Saturday Night Live. In 2024, Jason Reitman directed the biographical comedy-drama Saturday Night, which told the story of the show’s first night and the troubles that Michaels and the cast went through while preparing to air the first episode live.
