Anne Hathaway’s Comedy Movie With Breaking Bad Star Is Leaving Netflix

Anne Hathaway’s 2019 buddy comedy movie The Hustle is preparing to leave Netflix’s streaming library next month. The film is a female-centric remake of the popular 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, which was itself a remake of the 1964 film Bedtime Story.

The Hustle leaves Netflix in March

The Hustle is leaving Netflix on Thursday, March 12, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).

The movie centers around two female con artists, Josephine and Penny, who work together to scam wealthy men. The two first meet during their journey to the French Riviera. But when Josephine learns that Penny managed to scam someone she was targeting, she had Penny arrested.

Josephine later pays Penny’s bail, and the two eventually work together to settle their rivalry. They target a young tech billionaire, Thomas Westerburg. As they compete, they use various schemes to dupe the billionaire and outsmart each other.

The film stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson in the lead roles. The movie’s supporting cast includes Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris alongside Alex Sharp, Timothy Simons, Ingrid Oliver, Nicholas Woodeson, and Rob Delaney, among others, in prominent roles.

Reportedly, the film was initially named “Nasty Women,” per Deadline. The filmmakers ultimately changed it to The Hustle. Subsequently, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures hired Chris Addison to direct the film. Jac Schaeffer updated the screenplay, while sharing credits with Stanley Shapiro and Paul Henning, writers of Bedtime Story, and Dale Launer, who wrote the screenplay for the 1988 remake.

Ultimately, the movie did not fare well with either audiences or critics. As a result, it has a low Tomatometer score of 13% from 171 critics and a Popcornmeter score of 45% from over 2,500 users on Rotten Tomatoes. It earned approximately $97 million at the global box office on a reported $21 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
