When is the theatrical rerelease of Stephen King’s Stand by Me movie?

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Columbia Pictures’ Stand By Me will officially return to theaters on March 27, 2026. The cast featured Wil Wheaton as Gordie, River Phoenix as Chris, Corey Feldman as Teddy, Jerry O’Connell as Vern, Kiefer Sutherland as Ace, John Cusack as Denny, Richard Dreyfuss as the writer, and more.

“In a treehouse on the edge of Castle Rock, a small, woodsy town in Oregon, a budding 12-year-old writer named Gordie LaChance prepares to embark on an extraordinary journey—one that will change his life forever,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “When his best friend Vern overhears his older brother discussing the discovery of a dead body in the woods, Gordie and his friends set out in hopes of becoming local heroes. Joined by the tough but compassionate Chris and the reckless daredevil Teddy, the boys’ innocent adventure quickly becomes a profound odyssey of self-discovery. As they venture deeper into the forest, Gordie, Chris, Teddy, and Vern are tested in ways they never imagined, confronting fear, loss, and the realities of growing up.”

Reiner directed the 1986 classic movie from a screenplay written by Raynold Gideon and Bruce A. Evans. Producers were Evans, Gideon, and Andrew Scheinman. The creative team consisted of director of photography Thomas Del Ruth, composer Jack Nitzsche, and editor Robert Leighton.
