Ice Cube’s action comedy Ride Along and its follow up are gaining strong momentum on Peacock, years after their initial box office runs. The two films have recently climbed the digital charts, highlighting a wave of renewed interest.

Ride Along and Ride Along 2 have emerged as strong performers on Peacock, years after their theatrical releases. According to data by FlixPatrol, the original film ranked seventh in the United States from February 20 through February 25, 2026, before moving up to sixth place on February 26. Its sequel, Ride Along 2, generally maintained the eighth position across the same period.
The first film, directed by Tim Story and released on January 17, 2014, centers on aspiring police recruit Ben Barber. Determined to earn the approval of his girlfriend Angela’s brother, veteran Atlanta officer James Payton, Ben agrees to accompany him on patrol. However, a routine patrol quickly escalates into a confrontation with one of the city’s most dangerous criminals.
Upon release, the film received largely negative reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an 18 percent critics score based on 134 reviews. Meanwhile, audiences rated it 58 percent on the Popcornmeter.
The sequel, released on January 15, 2016, reunites the central duo as Ben prepares for his wedding. This time, the investigation takes them to Miami, where James is tracking leads tied to a drug trafficking network connected to Atlanta.
The investigation leads them to a wealthy businessman who is suspected of running a large criminal operation. On Rotten Tomatoes, the sequel holds a 15 percent critics rating based on 116 reviews and a 48 percent audience score.
The shared cast across both films includes Ice Cube as James Payton, Kevin Hart as Ben Barber and Tika Sumpter as Angela Payton. Despite the modest critical response to both films, their performance on Peacock suggests renewed audience interest.
