Celine Dion revealed that her iconic song, My Heart Will Go On, almost did not happen during the making of Titanic. This is the song that the musician is best known for, and it has remained a pop culture phenomenon over the decades that followed.

In a new post on her Instagram, Dion gave a background of this song and how she ended up achieving the immortal texture that she did.

Celine Dion reveals she almost didn’t sing My Heart Will Go On in Titanic

Iconic musician Celine Dion, who is best known for My Heart Will Go On, revealed that this song almost did not happen because Titanic director James Cameron did not want a song in his movie at all.

“I’ve had some classic songs offered to me that won Oscars and will be remembered for way after I’m gone. I didn’t want to sing My Heart Will Go On,” Dion said in a new video on Instagram.

She proceeded to explain that the song created friction between director James Cameron and composer James Horner. Horner wanted the song in the movie and was clear that he wanted Celine to sing it.

After going round and round, Celine was asked to give it a try. Because it was a trial run, she had black coffee, something she revealed was not the norm for her. But the coffee ended up changing her vibrato. She gave only one take in the trial run, and it had an immediate impact.

“I didn’t want to sing because the director didn’t want a song in the movie. But James Horner asked me to give it a try, and I sang it once. Then I had coffee, and it changed my vibrato,” Dion explained, “When I turned around, everyone in the studio was crying. They built the orchestra around my voice, and eventually, James Cameron agreed to include it. I’m so thankful they believed in me—my heart still goes on, more than ever.”

This song went on to become one of the most acclaimed songs of all time. It received numerous accolades, pushing Celine Dion to new boundaries.
