Loki, Scarlet Witch & More To Take on Doctor Doom Before Avengers 5

Marvel is bringing together several prominent heroes for a new multiversal confrontation tied to Doctor Doom. Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, characters including Scarlet Witch and Loki will join forces in an upcoming release. The story centers on Doctor Doom’s expanding threat across realities.

Marvel: What If…The Multiverse Was Doomed? will be released on August 4, 2026. The novel is written by DaVaun Sanders and published by Penguin as an eBook with 384 pages.

It confirms that Loki, the Scarlet Witch, Kitty Pryde, and Venom-Moon Knight will unite to fight Doctor Doom before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.

The book is the fifth entry in the Marvel: What If…? prose series. Previous titles include Marvel: What If…Loki Was Worthy? by Madeleine Roux, What If… Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker Were Siblings? by Seanan McGuire, Marvel: What If… Marc Spector Was Host to Venom? by Mike Chen, and Marvel: What If… Kitty Pryde Stole the Phoenix Force? by Rebecca Podos. The 2026 installment brings together characters from those earlier releases.

The official description states, “America Chavez must gather a team of heroes to make their final stand against Doctor Doom, and uncover what led him down this deadly path.” It also asks, “What If….the Watcher saved the Multiverse?” The story follows Victor von Doom as he searches across realities for a world with his son, Franklin.

The synopsis explains, “Victor von Doom has scoured across time, space, and countless dimensions and yet has never been closer to the home he’s been searching for.” After discovering Franklin is “the son of his arch-nemesis Reed Richards,” Doom decides to use the boy’s abilities to control reality. “With Doctor Doom only a heartbeat away from gaining unlimited control over all reality in every universe, America Chavez must gather a team of nexus beings from across the Multiverse to make one last stand.”
