New Sofia Coppola A24 Movie Gets Trailer Ahead of March Release

A24 has officially released the first trailer for Marc by Sofia, the upcoming documentary on American fashion designer Marc Jacobs by Sofia Coppola.

“An intimate, unconventional portrait of Marc Jacobs, crafted by Sofia Coppola to capture the genius and singular universe of the iconic American designer,” reads the film’s official synopsis. Marc by Sofia is set to release in theaters in New York on March 20, 2026, and then release nationwide on March 27, 2026.

What happens in the new Sofia Coppola movie trailer?

The trailer features some behind-the-scenes looks at Jacobs, and teases both her and Coppola coming together to talk about his life and career. In between snippets of Jacobs talking, the movie also has footage of Jacobs throughout his life, including looks at his various fashion shows, private life, and much more.

Jacobs is currently the head designer of his own fashion label, Marc Jacobs, and formerly a diffusion line known as Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs was also the creative director of the French design house Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2014, and is widely considered as one of the most famous fashion designers in the world. Jacobs began designing and selling his own clothes at 15, with his work featured in a litany of stores, including his own storefront named after himself, of which there over 280 storefronts.

Coppola directs and produces the movie, alongside Jane Cha Cutler, R.J. Cutler, Elise Pearlstein, and Trevor Smith. For Coppola, this will be her latest movie since 2023’s Priscilla, a biopic about the life of Priscilla Presley. That film starred Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, and earned Spaeny a Golden Globe nomination for her role.
