Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar-Winning Disaster Movie To Leave Netflix Soon

A classic Leonardo DiCaprio movie released during the late ’90s that made waves following its release and maintains its enduring impact is leaving Netflix soon. The film’s departure from the streaming platform stems from constantly changing licensing agreements affecting the streamer’s content library.

Titanic leaves Netflix in March

Titanic, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the lead roles, is leaving Netflix on March 16, 2026, according to What’s on Netflix. Accordingly, subscribers have around two and a half weeks to watch the film before its scheduled departure.

Blending fictional and historical elements in its narrative, the film, set aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912 and following the ship’s doomed maiden voyage, tells the tragic love story of Jack and Rose, two individuals belonging to different social classes.

James Cameron wrote and directed Titanic. He also co-produced it with Jon Landau. In addition to DiCaprio and Winslet, the movie stars Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bill Paxton, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, and David Warner, among others.

Made on an expensive production budget of $200 million, the blockbuster movie initially grossed over $1.84 billion when it launched in 1997. Further re-releases in theaters during subsequent years upped the figure to $2.26 billion. Consequently, the film became the fourth-highest-grossing movie of all time, surpassed only by Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, and Avatar (via Box Office Mojo).

The film garnered positive reviews upon release. A majority of the film’s aspects were lauded by critics and audiences, from the cinematography to the performances, story, and emotional weight. It also bagged numerous awards and nominations, including 14 nominations at the 70th Academy Awards, out of which it won 11, including Best Picture.

The film holds robust scores on review aggregator websites. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a certified fresh 88% score and 69% audience score. Meanwhile, Metacritic has given the film a Metascore of 75 and a user score of 8.2. The former indicates “Generally Favorable” reception. Meanwhile, the latter denotes “Universal Acclaim.”
