Wolverine PS5 Actor Weighs in on Replacing Hugh Jackman in MCU

The actor voicing Wolverine in Insomniac Games‘ upcoming video game based on the character responded to netizens suggesting he would be a suitable candidate for the live-action version of the character in the MCU. On social media, Liam McIntyre addressed the fan casting with a hilarious quip, referencing a line in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine.

Liam McIntyre on playing live-action Wolverine in the MCU

The Spartacus actor recently responded to Sony’s tweet on X (formerly Twitter), drawing attention to Wolverine’s September 15, 2026, release date. Liam McIntyre expressed his intention to buy the game the day it launches, saying, “Day one purchase for me.”

A fan responded to his post, suggesting Disney could cast him as the MCU’s Wolverine and that he was “rooting” for McIntyre to secure the gig.

McIntyre responded with a quip instead of directly expressing interest in the opportunity. He wrote, “Haha, I hear @RealHughJackman is contracted till he’s 90 :)”

The actor’s response was seemingly a reference to Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking joke in Deadpool & Wolverine about Hugh Jackman being contracted by Disney to appear as Wolverine in Marvel films until old age.

Another fan responded, explaining how McIntyre could take on Wolverine in live-action. They wrote, “You could play a new multiverse variant of Wolverine to be fair, a Deadpool movie would incorporate this so well too.”

McIntyre’s response comes shortly after Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, another popular fancast for Wolverine, weighed in on speculation surrounding the fan casting. The actor admitted that while he was “happy about [the rumors],” he wasn’t planning to succeed Jackman in the role.

McIntyre’s casting as the voice of Wolverine was first confirmed on September 25, 2025, during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase, where the game’s first trailer debuted.

The game will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles and will share continuity with Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, available on the PS4 and PS5. A PC version is yet to be confirmed. However, it is very likely, considering Sony’s recent trend of porting PlayStation games to PC two to three years after their launch on consoles.
