Latest Batman Fan-Cast Is Ready To Be DCU’s Dark Knight

The fan casting began earlier this month when gossip outlet Deuxmoi reported that Kelly was “apparently being considered for a certain DC role (via ScreenRant).” While the report did not confirm the part, many fans quickly connected the dots, speculating that Kelly could be in the mix for Batman in The Brave and the Bold, part of DC Studios’ evolving cinematic universe.
In a recent interview with GQ, Paul Anthony Kelly finally addressed the growing fan campaign for DCU’s Batman. Reacting to the idea of stepping into the cape and cowl, he said, “If that’s what they say, then who am I to say no? I mean, that would be a dream come true.”
Fans have passionately supported the idea of Paul Anthony Kelly’s Batman casting, citing his strong jawline and commanding presence in formal wear as qualities fitting for Bruce Wayne. Kelly, for his part, has largely stayed off social media and avoided engaging directly with online debates. At the time of publication, neither James Gunn nor DC Studios has confirmed or denied the reports.
The Brave and the Bold has been in development since early 2023, when DC Studios revealed it as part of Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. The film will introduce the DCU’s version of Batman, separate from The Batman Part II, which continues in director Matt Reeves’ standalone universe featuring Robert Pattinson.
When announcing the project, Gunn described it as “the introduction of the DCU’s Batman (via Comic Book Movie).” But for now, the Batman DCU casting remains unconfirmed. However, with Kelly openly embracing the possibility, fans have yet another contender to rally behind as DC Studios prepares to unveil its next Dark Knight.
