Heat 2 Cast Adds Oscar Winner to Leonardo DiCaprio & Michael Mann Movie
The Heat 2 cast has grown, with an Oscar-winning legend joining the cast of the highly anticipated sequel starring Leonardo DiCaprio and coming from director Michael Mann.
Who has joined the Heat 2 cast?
According to Good Day Chicago anchor Jake Hamilton, Christian Bale has confirmed that he will be starring in the upcoming sequel. Bale’s involvement had been rumored for some time, but in an upcoming interview, it seems as if Bale confirms that he will be involved in the movie.
While little is known about the upcoming movie, DiCaprio has opened up a bit about the sequel. In December, DiCaprio said that the movie “is very much its own movie. We’re still working on it, we’re a ways away from production. It tips its hat to Heat, but it’s an homage, and it picks up the story from there. The book is already out there, so there are no big secrets that I’m divulging. It’s set in the future, and the past, from that pivotal moment in what I think is the great crime noir film of my lifetime.
“It’s one of those films that just keeps resonating, that we keep talking about, that has been imitated so many times and influenced so many different movies. So, we’re working on it. But it’s certainly exciting, and I think I look at it as its own silo, in a sense. We can’t duplicate what Heat was, so it’s paying homage to that film, but giving it its own unique entity.”
Heat 2 is a 2022 crime novel by Mann and Meg Gardiner. The book is a prequel and sequel to the 1995 movie, Heat. The prequel is set in Chicago in 1988, with Detective Vincent Hanna working to catch a ruthless gangster. Concurrently, Neil McCauley, Chris Shiherlis, and Michael Cerrito are planning their next score.
The book picks up in 1995, moments after the events of the movie, with Chris on the run from Vincent. The novel then skips ahead to 2000, with Vincent looking for that same Chicago gangster, while Chris works for a powerful Taiwanese-Paraguayan crime family.
