Hugh Jackman Wakes up To Become Wolverine Again
After 25 years of playing the iconic mutant, Hugh Jackman experienced a truly meta moment, aka waking up to find he’d literally become Wolverine overnight. The actor shared a hilarious selfie showing off his wild morning hair that perfectly mimicked Logan’s signature side spikes.

The Greatest Showman star took to X (formerly Twitter) to document the amusing incident, holding his phone up to a mirror to capture his bedhead in all its glory. In the post, which quickly garnered 1.4 million views, Hugh Jackman showed hair sticking up in those unmistakable Wolverine points that fans have loved for decades. “When you wake up, look in the mirror, and realize you’ve actually become the character you’ve played for 25 years,” he captioned the photo.
The comment section naturally exploded with reactions, including the inevitable “Till you’re 90” reference. It is a nod to Ryan Reynolds’ joke in Deadpool & Wolverine about Hugh Jackman playing the role indefinitely. Fans flooded the post with praise, such as “You are Wolverine playing to be an actor,” celebrating his quarter-century commitment to one of Marvel’s most beloved characters.
Jackman first slipped his claws out in 2000’s X-Men alongside Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, James Marsden, and Ian McKellen. Jackman returned to the role last year in Deadpool & Wolverine after seemingly retiring the character following 2017’s critically acclaimed Logan. The film became a massive success, grossing over $1.3 billion worldwide and becoming the second-highest-grossing MCU movie since Avengers: Endgame.
For now, it remains unclear when Jackman will next appear as the clawed mutant. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has expressed interest in bringing both Wolverine and Deadpool back, but only if the story fits within the broader MCU narrative. Jackman was not included in the initial Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, though Feige has teased that more actors will be confirmed.
Fans are hoping to see Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in either Avengers: Doomsday or its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, both directed by the Russo Brothers.
