Psycho Killer, the new film starring Georgina Campbell and James Preston Rogers from director Gavin Polone, has debuted to a shocking 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s audience score isn’t faring much better, with the film only holding a 34% score as of the time of this writing.
The movie, which was not screened for critics prior to its release, has mostly been criticized for its performances and general story. Screen Rant’s Gregory Nussen says the movie “is filled with stilted and cartoonish performances, and, for all of its genuflecting towards satanic panic and its own seediness, it is an extremely dry and normal affair.”
TheWrap’s William Bibbiani echoed these sentiments, noting the movie “wasn’t made with style in mind. Actually, it doesn’t seem to have anything on its mind. It’s a rudimentary cat-and-mouse thriller with laughable ideas about Satanism and an absurd, cringy ending.”
Collider’s Ross Bonaime also panned the movie, calling it “a collection of overdone tropes and ridiculous choices, all centered around a bland horror villain who’s a composite of other, better killers.”
Dead Central’s Josh Korngut was also not pleased with the movie, saying it was “an out-of-touch, dated satanic crime thriller that misses the Dark Mark.”
“Following the brutal murder of her husband, a Kansas highway patrol officer (Georgina Campbell) sets out on a journey to track down the perpetrator,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “As the hunt progresses, she comes to realize the man responsible (James Preston Rogers) is a sadistic serial killer, and the depth of his mental depravity and his sinister agenda is more twisted than anyone could have imagined.”
Psycho Killer stars Georgina Campbell, James Preston Rogers, Grace Dove, Logan MIller, and Malcolm McDowell. The film is directed by Gavin Polone, and written by Andrew Kevin Walker. Producers on the film include Roy Lee, Matt Berenson, Andrew Kevin Walker, and Arnon Milchan, with Martin Moszkowicz, Robert Kulzer, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, and Kat Landsberg serving as executive producers.
