Nancy Meyers’ New Movie With Owen Wilson & Jude Law Loses Star Actress

Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly searching for a new lead actress for Nancy Meyers‘ highly anticipated directorial feature after one of its previously announced main cast members exited the project. This comes less than a month after the studio officially set the release date for the upcoming all-star movie. Production is expected to begin sometime this year, just in time for its theatrical debut on December 25, 2027.

Who is exiting the cast of Nancy Meyers’ new movie?

According to Puck, Barbie and Sex Education star Emma Mackey is no longer attached to star in Nancy Meyers’ untitled movie. The outlet noted that Mackey actually previously replaced Scarlett Johansson in the original Netflix version of the project, hinting at the role’s significance. Mackey will next be seen in two high-profile movies later this year, including the Glen Powell-led sci-fi movie The Great Beyond and Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie for Netflix.

At the moment, Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Marry Me), Jude Law (The Holiday, Alfie), Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), and Kieran Culkin (Succession, A Real Pain) are part of the movie’s main cast. Further details about its plot and characters are still under wraps.

Meyers will be directing the film from a screenplay she wrote. This serves as her comeback movie after directing Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in the 2015 dramedy The Intern. She is best known for her work in many iconic movies, including Private Benjamin, The Parent Trap, The Father of the Bride, What Women Want, and Something’s Gotta Give. Meyers and Ilona Herzberg are producing with Diana Pokorny serving as an executive producer.
