Homefront is a hit on Netflix
More than a decade after its theatrical release, Homefront has resurfaced as a popular title on Netflix. The action film recently ranked fourth on the platform’s Top 10 Movies in the United States list for the week of February 9 to February 15, 2026. During that period, it performed ahead of several other titles including Flipped, A Father’s Miracle, The Black Phone and Night at the Museum.
Directed by Gary Fleder and written by Sylvester Stallone, the film is adapted from the novel by Chuck Logan. It was originally released on November 27, 2013. Jason Statham plays Phil Broker, a former undercover DEA agent who decides to step away from his dangerous profession after a violent incident connected to a biker gang.
Now a widower, he relocates to a small town with his young daughter in the hope of building a calmer life. However, a confrontation at his daughter’s school soon draws attention from members of the local criminal network.
This conflict leads Broker into a dangerous clash with Morgan “Gator” Bodine, a powerful figure in the local meth operation portrayed by James Franco. As Bodine investigates Broker’s past and the situation escalates, the former agent is forced to rely on his old skills in order to protect his daughter and confront the growing threat. Other members of the cast include Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Rachelle Lefevre and Frank Grillo.
Although the film received mixed responses from critics upon release, it continues to attract viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, Homefront holds a critics score of 42 percent based on 113 reviews.
Meanwhile, audience response has been more favorable, with 61 percent rating on Popcornmeter. Its current performance on Netflix suggests the film is finding renewed popularity with streaming audiences.
