Exciting James Bond & Mission: Impossible Rumors Debunked

Rumors continue to swirl around who might be playing the iconic James Bond in the upcoming 007 movie, and recently, one of the most exciting rumors was debunked.

In a recent report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, Sneider dove into the hottest rumors regarding the Bond franchise, that Frankenstein and Euphoria star Jacob Elordi has been offered the role. Sneider shut that down, noting that he knows this hasn’t been the case yet because, as far as he’s been told, “there’s no script yet.”

Sneider also believes the role of James Bond will eventually go to a British actor, but had no concrete info as to who just yet. Alongside Elordi, Callum Turner has often been viewed as the odds-on favorite to land the role. Currently, though, little is known about the movie at all, as director Denis Villeneuve is still working on his upcoming Dune: Part Three before tackling the next entry in the 007 series.

Mission: Impossible director rumors addressed

In the same Q&A section of his reporting, Sneider was also asked about rumors that ChloĆ© Zhao, who directed the 2025 Oscar-nominated Hamnet and Best Picture-winning Nomadland in 2020, was approached to direct the next Mission: Impossible movie. Sneider also shut this rumor down, saying that not only was it not true, but something that he found “highly implausible,” citing the rumor’s source, Deuxmoi, as being spotty with its sourcing.

Sneider also pointed to Zhao’s last experience with a big-budget movie, 2021’s Eternals for Marvel Studios, as a reason both she and Paramount might not be keen to step into the Mission: Impossible world together. The report mentions that Paramount is looking to make a splash with its next movie in the series, and may look elsewhere. However, he did end the question by noting that Zhao could be an interesting person to look at for DC’s eventual Wonder Woman movie, which is said to be in development.
