Kit Harington & Sophie Turner Gag After Kissing in The Dreadful BTS Video

A new behind-the-scenes video shows Sophie Turner and Kit Harington gagging after kissing on the set of their upcoming horror film, The Dreadful, and their reaction says everything about playing lovers after years of being on-screen siblings on Game of Thrones.

The clip, shared by Entertainment Tonight, shows Sophie Turner and Kit Harington in character as Anne and Jago, gazing into each other’s eyes before kissing romantically. The moment feels straight out of a period drama until director Natasha Kermani calls out, “Cut!” That’s when Harington immediately pretends to gag, with Turner quickly following suit as crew members burst into laughter in the background.

The awkwardness stems from the actors’ history of playing family members on the hit HBO series. Turner played Sansa Stark while Harington played her half-brother/cousin Jon Snow across all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, which ended in 2019.

Now the pair are reuniting as love interests in The Dreadful, a gothic horror film set during the War of the Roses in 1400s England. Turner plays Anne, a woman who loses her husband in the war and begins a secret romance with Harington’s character, Jago, while dealing with her controlling mother-in-law and a mysterious curse.

The transition hasn’t been lost on either actor. During an appearance on The Late Night with Seth Meyers in August 2025, Turner described filming intimate scenes as “vile,” joking that she and her old friend were “both retching” during their romantic moments. Looking at the script before shooting, she recalled seeing nothing but “kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex” and thinking, “Oh, shoot… that’s my brother.”

Harington has been equally candid, telling E! News in November 2025, “It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact.”

Nonetheless, The Dreadful, which also stars Laurence O’Fuarain, Marcia Gay Harden, and Jonathan Howard, will be released in theaters on February 20, 2026.
