Sonic 4 Movie Cast Adds A-List Star as Amy Rose Actress

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has officially found its Amy Rose, with a new star set to join the cast of the highly anticipated next film.

According to a new report from THR, The Good Place and Nobody Wants This star Kristen Bell is set to star in the upcoming movie as Amy Rose. She’ll join the already star-studded cast of Sonic the Hedgehog’s movie franchise, which includes the likes of Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), and Keanu Reeves (Shadow).

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will once again be directed by Jeff Fowler, who directed the first three films. The film is tentatively dated to release on March 19, 2027.

Amy Rose briefly appeared at the end of 2024’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3. In a post-credits scene, Sonic seemingly time travels or teleports away to a different area outside of New York while in a race with Tails. He’s ambushed by a group of Metal Sonics, but saved by Rose, wielding her iconic hammer. In the game franchise, Rose first appeared in Sonic CD.

Currently, little is known about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Rumors suggest the film could be titled Sonic CD, a nod to the 1993 game that introduced time travel into the series, which Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also teases in a post-credits scene at the end of the 2024 movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to arrive in 2027, though, so more information should be coming soon.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 wound up being a huge hit for Paramount. It grossed approximately $492.2 million globally off an estimated $122 million budget, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise. It is also the third-highest-grossing video game movie of all time behind 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and 2025’s A Minecraft Movie, while it came in tenth place for the highest-grossing movies of 2024.
