Leo Woodall joins cast of Custom of the Country

According to a recent report published by Deadline, the team behind the Custom of the Country movie has officially added Leo Woodall to the highly anticipated project’s cast.

Featuring Sydney Sweeney in the lead role, the upcoming film adaptation of Edith Wharton’s 1913 novel will focus on the journey of a young Midwestern woman named Undine Spragg. Set in early 20th-century New York City, the story follows Undine’s attempts to climb up the social ladder as she makes use of her endearing beauty, unwavering determination, and unfaltering ambition to achieve her goals. Despite encountering intense opposition from the elite class, Undine refuses to give up until her fortune changes for the better.

Studiocanal and Rabbit’s Foot Films have joined forces to bring Wharton’s beloved novel to the big screen. Meanwhile, Monumental Pictures, Studiocanal, Charles Finch, and Sydney Sweeney herself will be producing the feature. Josie Rourke has adapted the film’s script from Wharton’s novel and will also direct.

Aside from Sydney Sweeney and Woodall, the cast for the upcoming adaptation remains unknown. Nina Gold, who has taken up the casting responsibilities for the project, is currently in the process of recruiting talent to accompany Sweeney and Woodall.

Studiocanal is financing the movie on its own and will oversee the film’s theatrical release in all of its territories, including the UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, and Benelux. At the time of writing, Custom of the Country does not have an official release date.
