New Chris Pratt Sci-Fi Movie Already Streaming in Less Than a Month

Just weeks after its theatrical debut, Chris Pratt‘s new movie has already become available on digital platforms, allowing viewers to watch it online. The Timur Bekmambetov-directed feature hit theaters on January 23 and is now available for rental and purchase.

Mercy’s digital release date has come faster than expected, with the film now streaming on Prime Video and Fandango just under a month after its theatrical premiere. Viewers can rent the movie for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99. Since Mercy comes from Amazon MGM Studios, subscribers should eventually be able to stream it on Prime Video as part of their membership.

Set in the near future, Mercy follows a detective played by Chris Pratt who finds himself in a race against time after being accused of murdering his wife. With only 90 minutes to prove his innocence, he must convince an advanced AI judge—brought to life by Rebecca Ferguson—to spare his fate.

The AI system is particularly significant because Pratt’s character once championed its creation. Beyond Pratt and Ferguson, the ensemble cast includes Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, Kylie Rogers, Kenneth Choi, Rafi Gavron, Jeff Pierre, and Tom Rezvan.

Despite its $60 million budget and star-studded cast, Mercy struggled at the box office, grossing only $53 million worldwide. Critics were particularly harsh, handing the film a dismal 24% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, regular moviegoers have embraced the film much more warmly than professional critics. Mercy currently holds an impressive 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, with viewers describing it as a high-concept whodunit perfect for fans of tense, popcorn-style entertainment. Many have specifically recommended experiencing it in 3D for maximum impact.
