Reviews for the film are primarily positive. Collider‘s Luna Guthrie shared that the film instantly hooks viewers. She acknowledged that while the movie has a “basic premise,” it nonetheless “delivered” on it “with such keen vision,” ensuring that viewers will be “immediately invested.”
Meanwhile, Mark Dujsik of Mark Reviews Movies shared that while the film’s premise was “nothing unique,” it is a “pretty effective” movie.
Heaven of Horror‘s Karina Adelgaard wrote, “[The film] truly is some fascinating worldbuilding. Of course, a little more explanation for the character (or just more excessive backstory) wouldn’t have hurt. Also, it’s too long due to some slower passages that don’t help it. However, it is very well made with practical effects.”
