Armie Hammer’s 2019 Action Thriller Is Coming To Netflix

An action thriller set in India starring Armie Hammer is set to arrive on Netflix next month. Based on the real events of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the film will soon be available to a wider streaming audience.

Hotel Mumbai to stream on Netflix next month

The 2019 action thriller Hotel Mumbai, starring Dev Patel and Armie Hammer, is set to begin streaming on Netflix on March 2, 2026. The film recounts the harrowing events of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, focusing on the terrorist assault at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the experiences of those trapped inside.

Directed by Anthony Maras, the film was released in the United States on March 22, 2019. Based on real events, it portrays the coordinated attacks that unfolded across Mumbai in November 2008. The film centers on Arjun, a waiter played by Patel, and Chef Hemant Oberoi, portrayed by Anupam Kher, who work to protect guests despite the escalating danger. 

Hammer plays David, a visitor caught in the crisis alongside his wife, Zahra, played by Nazanin Boniadi. The couple faces difficult choices while trying to protect their newborn child. The cast also includes Tilda Cobham-Hervey as Sally and Vitthal Nagnath Kale as DC Kanu.

Upon release, the film earned generally favorable reviews. It currently holds a 76% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, audiences have rated it more highly, reflected in an 88% Popcornmeter score. Ready Steady Cut‘s review read, “The first great film of 2019. A visceral, pulse-pounding, frenetic docudrama held together with extraordinary technique by Maras. Imagine, a Hollywood film based on real events that depicts men and women of diversity as honest-to-God real-life heroes.”

According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed approximately $22 million worldwide, including about $10 million from domestic theaters. With its upcoming Netflix debut, Hotel Mumbai is set to draw renewed attention.
