Sam Rockwell & John Malkovich’s Star-Studded Movie by Martin McDonagh Sets Release Date
Searchlight Pictures has finally announced the release date for Wild Horse Nine, the upcoming drama thriller from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin McDonagh. The project will be led by acclaimed actors Sam Rockwell (See How They Run) and John Malkovich (Burn After Reading).
When is the release date for Sam Rockwell’s Wild Horse Nine movie?
Wild Horse Nine is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 6, 2026. The film will be debuting in the same month as several high-profile movies like The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, Steven Spielberg’s The Great Beyond, Ben Stiller’s Focker In-Law, Greta Gerwig’s Narnia, and Johnny Depp’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.
The movie is written and directed by McDonagh, who is reuniting with Rockwell after working together in 2012’s Seven Psychopaths and 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. This marks his directorial comeback, nearly four years after directing the acclaimed black comedy movie The Banshees of Inisherin. The 2022 film scored nine Oscar nominations, as well as three Golden Globe wins for Best Actor, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay.
The ensemble cast of Wild Horse Nine also includes Steve Buscemi, Mariana di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey. Set to take place in 1973 Chile, the story is described as a dark comedic drama following two CIA agents who face a trust-testing journey from Santiago to Easter Island. It is produced by Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, McDonagh, and Anita Overland. The creative team consists of cinematographer Ben Davis, editor Mikkel E.G. Nielsen, composer Carter Burwell, production designer Denis Schnegg, and costume designer Eimer Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh.
