Daniel Kaluuya Acting Return Set for A24 Sci-Fi Movie
After a multi-year hiatus, Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya is set to return to acting in an A24 sci-fi movie.
What is Daniel Kaluuya’s new A24 movie about?
According to Deadline, Kaluuya is in talks to star in Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, a new thriller from writer-director Michael Shanks.
“Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel follows a man who wakes up trapped in a mysterious hotel room,” the official logline reads. “All alone in a mind-bending prison, his only chance for escape is teamwork — with himself.”
Shanks will write, direct, and produce Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel. Shanks is coming off the success of his feature-length directorial debut, Together, a 2025 body horror starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie. Together premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and was sold to Neon for an estimated $20 million. Released in July 2025, Together garnered favorable reviews and grossed $34 million worldwide.
Additional producers on Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel include Mike Cowap and Emma Fitzsimmons of Princess Pictures, along with Adam McKay and Todd Schulman of HyperObject Industries.
Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel is Kaluuya’s long-awaited return to acting. His last live-action role came in 2022’s Nope, Jordan Peele‘s sci-fi horror that grossed over $171 million worldwide.
Speaking of Peele, Kaluuya’s breakthrough came as the lead in 2017’s Get Out. The psychological horror film received four Oscar nominations, including Best Actor for Kaluuya. Peele won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
After Get Out, Kaluuya starred in Black Panther, Widows, and Queen & Slim. In 2021, Kaluuya starred in Judas and the Black Messiah. For his role as Fred Hampton, Kaluuya won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
Kaluuya’s last movie appearance came in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as the voice of Hobart “Hobie” Brown/Spider-Punk. Kaluuya also co-wrote, co-directed, and produced The Kitchen, a British dystopian drama that premiered on Netflix in January 2024.
