Influenced Movie’s Witty Trailer Shows Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow
Jill Kargman’s satirical world of social media elites takes center stage in the first trailer for Influenced. The comedy blends celebrity cameos with sharp commentary on momfluencer culture. The sneak peek offers a look into the luxe, filtered life of Dzanielle. Appearances by Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Drew Barrymore add star power to the film’s polished chaos.
What happens in Influenced trailer
In the trailer for Influenced, Jill Kargman’s character Dzanielle, a wealthy Upper East Side momfluencer, is on a mission to reach one million social media followers. She declares, “I’m gonna get to a mil if it kills me,” while navigating a life filled with glamor and absurdity. The trailer includes cameo appearances by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, and Drew Barrymore, who appear as part of Dzanielle’s social circle or environment.
The trailer opens with flashes of Dzanielle’s high-end lifestyle, blending her online persona with comedic glimpses of her real life. She announces, “It’s time to use my platform for good,” and claims she will become “the Mr. Rogers of East 74th Street.” This sets the tone for a satirical take on influencer culture within Manhattan’s elite.
The film Influenced is co-written by Jill Kargman, Carol Hartsell, and Sean Crespo. Rachel Israel directs the project. The cast includes Justin Bartha, Christine Taylor, Jessica Capshaw, Jason Biggs, David Krumholtz, Eugene Cordero, Laura Bell Bundy, and Nathan Lee Graham in supporting roles. According to Kargman, “Like my show Odd Mom Out, Influenced is set in the Black card–swiping, Ozempic-sharting, workout-addicted Upper East Side.”
PEOPLE exclusively released the trailer and notes that the film expands on Jill Kargman’s viral pandemic-era character Dzanielle. Drew Barrymore appears in the trailer and previously married Kargman’s brother, Will Kopelman, from 2012 to 2016.
Influenced premiered at the Miami Jewish Film Festival in January and hits theaters this spring. The story follows Dzanielle as she shifts from chasing followers to forming real friendships and discovering herself.
