Shark Movie Deep Water Starring Aaron Eckhart & Ben Kingsley Gets Teaser Trailer

Magenta Light Studios has shared the teaser trailer for Deep Water, the upcoming disaster horror thriller featuring Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight) and Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island).

The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, pitting it directly against The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Animal Farm at the box office. It is also debuts in the same month as other highly anticipated features, including The Sheep Detectives, Mortal Kombat II, Obsession, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Passenger.

“A flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai goes down in the middle of the Pacific. After surviving the crash, the survivors soon discover they’re not alone, and they must survive the shark-infested waters,” reads the movie’s synopsis.

What happens in the Deep Water teaser trailer?

The video features Eckhart and Kingsley as pilots who have no choice but to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. Together, the survivors must find a way to escape their dire situation. The teaser trailer highlights some of the film’s suspense-filled action sequences, including the beginning of the crash. The movie also stars Molly Belle Wright, Angus Sampson, Kelly Gale, and Li Wenhan.

Deep Water is directed by Renny Harlin, with Pete Bridges and John Kim writing the screenplay. Harlin is best known for his work on movies like Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, Cutthroat Island, The Covenant, and The Strangers trilogy. The upcoming film won’t be the filmmaker’s first venture into the shark genre, as he previously directed Thomas Jane, Saffron Burrows, and Samuel L. Jackson in 1999’s Deep Blue Sea movie.

The new shark attack movie is produced by Gene Simmons, Ying Ye, Neal Kingston, Grant Bradley, Dale Bradley, Adrián Guerra, Xavier Parache, and Bob Yari. The creative team consists of cinematographer D.J. Stipsen, composer Fernando Velázquez, production designer Helen Strevens, set decorator Penny Kerr, and costume designer Jaindra Watson.
