Charli XCX Stars in Anti-Rom Com Movie Erupcja Trailer

1-2 Special has shared the official trailer for Erupcja, the upcoming romance drama led by Grammy winner Charli XCX. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 17, 2026.

“A romantic vacation goes awry when a volcanic eruption strands Bethany and her soon-to-be fiancé, Rob, in Warsaw, Poland,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “Bethany takes the explosive event as a sign to ditch her baggage, reunite with childhood friend Nel, and traipse across lofts, clubs, and back alleys, all the while becoming entangled in an emotional web that challenges her sense of self.”

What happens in the Erupcja trailer?

The video features Charli XCX as Bethany, who tries to reconnect with an old friend, Nel, during her vacation with her boyfriend. In order to avoid her boyfriend’s imminent marriage proposal, she subtly pushes his vacation itinerary to spend more time with Nel. The movie also stars Lena Góra (The Eastern Gate) as Nel, Will Madden (The Wolf of Snow Hollow) as Rob, Jeremy O. Harris (Emily in Paris) as Claude, Agata Trzebuchowska (Ida) as Ula, and more.

Described as an anti-romantic comedy, Erupcja is directed by Peter Ohs, who co-wrote the screenplay with Charli XCX and Góra. The movie is produced by Ohs, Luke Arreguin, Josh Godfrey, Jeremy O. Harris, Malia Paul, Alexandra Tynion, Olivia Tyson, Will Westwater, Charli XCX, and Cham Zhao. Since its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the film has received an approval rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.
