Release date for Wicked: For Good on Netflix confirmed

Wicked: For Good will reportedly land on Netflix on July 20, 2026, four months after its arrival on Peacock on March 20 (via What’s on Netflix). Its arrival on the streamer will continue Universal’s efforts to broaden the film’s audience reach.

As part of Netflix’s deal with Universal, the film will stay on the streamer for 10 months before moving back to Peacock again in May 2027.

Wicked: For Good premiered in theaters on November 21, 2025. It grossed an estimated $527.8 million at the global box office against an estimated production budget of $150 million. This is lower than the first film’s gross, which is an estimated $758.8 million. Notably, both films were made on the same budget.

While Wicked: For Good has received mixed critical reception on review aggregator websites, it performed strongly with audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 66% critic score and 93% audience score. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, the film has been given a “mixed or average” Metascore of 58 but a “generally favorable” user score of 6.7.

Wicked: For Good’s story continues from where Wicked left off. It finds Elphaba, now the Wicked Witch of the West, focusing on her fight for animal rights in Oz. This inadvertently leads to her crossing paths with Glinda the Good, whom she parted ways with in the previous film, again.

Jon M. Chu directed the film, while Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox handled the screenplay. All three reprise their duties from the first film.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo reprise their roles as Glinda and Elphaba from the first film. Other returning actors include Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. Meanwhile, new cast members include Colman Domingo and Bethany Weaver.
