Andy Samberg has shared a new update on the status of a possible Hotel Transylvania 5. Samberg’s words hint that although discussions are taking place behind the scenes, a fifth film has yet to move beyond very early stages.
Andy Samberg’s Hotel Transylvania 5 update isn’t very exciting
Andy Samberg has offered a disappointing update about the future of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, saying that plans for a Hotel Transylvania 5 have not yet moved into any confirmed stage. His comments come after recent remarks from Keegan-Michael Key sparked new discussions about the animated series continuing.
Samberg addressed the subject while speaking to ScreenRant during promotions for his Hellmann’s and Best Foods Super Bowl 2026 advertisement. The actor explained that he has only heard informal discussions about a possible sequel, saying that he has “heard rumblings.” He added, “I don’t know that I’m in a position to say too much about it.” Beyond that, Samberg also offered a few positive words about the Hotel Transylvania franchise’s future, saying, “there’s not nothing there,” and that “there’s smoke, and we’re going to find out if there’s fire.”
He also spoke warmly about the team behind the series, crediting Adam Sandler, Robert Smigel, and director Genndy Tartakovsky for building the franchise that made the films so popular. “I feel very lucky that I got to be a part of that,” Samberg said. He also noted that the franchise continues to connect with younger people and often sees a spike in interest around Halloween.
Asked about his character’s future, Samberg answered with humor, remarking he “obviously [wants] as much backpack-related content for Johnnystein as possible.” The actor has been part of the franchise since its start in 2012, voicing Johnny Loughran, a human who accidentally discovers a luxury hotel created for monsters and run by Count Dracula, voiced by Sandler.
