Clayface Delay Results in DCU Horror Movie Getting Perfect Release Date

Warner Bros. has delayed the Clayface release date for the upcoming body horror movie that is part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.

When is Clayface’s new release date after the delay?

Clayface will now be released in theaters on October 23, 2026. This is a more fitting release date close to Halloween, rather than the original date of September 11, 2026.

Described as a body horror thriller, the adaptation will reportedly feature “a Hollywood horror tale centering on a B-movie actor who injects himself with a substance to keep himself relevant.” The movie is centered around the DC Comics character, who was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, with shape-shifting abilities.

Clayface is typically a Batman villain in DC Comics, which has led to much speculation as to whether or not the DCU’s Dark Knight will show up in the film. There’s been no formal announcement regarding the manner, and no actor has been publicly cast as the DCU’s Batman; however, there have also been some hints in various set photos that have emerged — such as a rundown building with a “Wayne Community Center” — that at least suggest the Caped Crusader’s presence will be felt.

Clayface is being directed by James Watkins and stars Tom Rhys Harries as the titular Batman villain. The script comes from Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Watkins’ previous filmography includes 2008’s Eden Lake, 2012’s The Woman in Black, 2016’s Bastille Day, and 2024’s Speak No Evil, while he was also a second unit director on 2009’s The Descent Part 2.
