David Harbour & Rebecca Hall Star in Robert Downey Jr.’s New Horror Movie

Lionsgate has announced the casting of David Harbour (Thunderbolts*), Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), and Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) in the upcoming psychological horror movie A Head Full of Ghosts. The project hails from Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer), who is producing alongside Susan Downey for their Team Downey banner.

Harbour, Hall, and Creed-Miles are currently in final negotiations to play the lead roles. This marks both Harbour and Hall’s latest collaboration with Robert Downey Jr., with the Stranger Things vet set to star alongside Downey in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. As for Hall, the Golden Globe nominee played a supporting character in 2013’s Iron Man 3.

What do we know about Robert Downey Jr.’s A Head Full of Ghosts movie?

“In the film, the Barretts’ suburban life is torn apart when their teenage daughter’s descent into madness becomes the subject of a reality show. Fifteen years later, her sister Merry faces her family’s haunting past with a journalist, uncovering the very nature of the evil that destroyed them,” reads the official synopsis.

A Head Full of Ghosts will be written and directed by the acclaimed filmmaking duo of Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, based on the 2013 horror novel by Paul Tremblay. They are best known for their work on the German-language hit Goodnight Mommy. The movie will also be produced by Daniel Dubiecki & Lara Alameddine of The Allegiance Theater, David Gambino, and Fifth Season. After acquiring the film’s global distribution rights from Fifth Season, Lionsgate is now planning to start its production in March.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Team Downey, The Allegiance Theater, and David Gambino, and our friends at Fifth Season, who collectively bring exceptional prestige and creative confidence to the project,” Lionsgate boss Adam Fogelson said in a statement. “This team’s artistic vision for this terrifying story has been undeniable – striking, distinct, and genuinely unsettling. It’s no surprise that Stephen King called this book his favorite novel of the past decade and said that it ‘scared the living hell’ out of him – which says it all.”
