Milly Alcock Reveals Supergirl’s Puppy Bowl Video Release Date & Time

While many DC fans were hoping for a Super Bowl trailer for Supergirl, director James Gunn has shared something else instead. In a charming crossover, Gunn has released a special Puppy Bowl promo video featuring the movie’s star, Milly Alcock.

Milly Alcock hypes up Supergirl’s Puppy Bowl in new video

James Gunn took to social media to share the quick spot ahead of Sunday’s Puppy Bowl event, regarding DC’s ongoing collaboration with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines. The short clip features Milly Alcock, who plays Kara Zor-El, announcing the partnership. Warner Bros., the studio behind the Supergirl film, also owns Animal Planet, the network airing the Puppy Bowl.

“Out-of-this-world cuteness,” Gunn wrote in his post. He also provided the essential viewing details: “Watch #PuppyBowl Sunday at 2pm ET | 11am PT on Animal Planet, and don’t miss #Supergirl in theaters June 26.”

This promotion continues a heartwarming tradition from last year’s Superman campaign. A litter of Labrador Retriever puppies named Clark, Kara, Lois, Krypto, and Lobo represents the real-world partnership. These pups are being trained to become assistance dogs for the visually impaired, veterans with PTSD or TBI, and children with autism.

The choice to promote Supergirl during the Puppy Bowl is more than just corporate synergy. It ties directly into a potentially crucial element of the film’s plot. The movie, directed by Craig Gillespie and releasing on June 26, 2026, is based on Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but is not a direct adaptation.

“It’s a space fantasy, which is like Guardians [of the Galaxy] in a way, but it’s based on the Tom King book. It doesn’t follow it religiously, but it has a lot of the core of that there,” Gunn told Variety. In that core story, the villain Krem mortally wounds Supergirl’s beloved dog, Krypto. This makes the Puppy Bowl the ideal venue to potentially hint at this emotional storyline and connect with an audience of animal lovers ahead of the film’s summer release.
