Taylor Swift Sets Release Date for Opalite Music Video With Countdown

A countdown appeared on Taylor Swift’s official site this week, signaling the arrival of a new music video. Without revealing much else, the timer confirmed that “Opalite” is set to make its debut as part of the ongoing Life of a Showgirl campaign.

Opalite music video to come out this week

Taylor Swift plans to release the music video for “Opalite” on Friday, February 6 at 8 a.m. ET. Apple Music and Spotify Premium will stream the video exclusively until Sunday, February 8 at 8 a.m. ET, after which YouTube will begin hosting it.

As part of the promotional rollout, Swift launched a countdown on her website to confirm the release schedule. The site announced that Apple Music and Spotify Premium would have initial exclusive access before the video expands to YouTube following the 48-hour window.

Swift’s website also added a special merchandise drop related to the single. A new “Opalite” blue pearlescent vinyl is available for preorder. According to the site, “Preorders are available until February 6 at 7 p.m. ET or until supplies last.”

“Opalite” is the second single from Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl. The song debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently at No. 10, marking its seventeenth week on the chart with consistent radio play and strong streaming numbers.

The Life of a Showgirl was released in October and sold 2.7 million copies on its release day. It surpassed Adele’s 25 to set a new record for the most consumption in Billboard 200 history, becoming the highest-selling release of the decade so far.

The album’s first single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” debuted during The Official Release Party of a Showgirl and became Swift’s 13th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song held the top spot for 10 non-consecutive weeks, further cementing her chart dominance.
