Jason Momoa & Dave Bautista Reveal Their Dream Franchise to Join
Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa both want to play villains in the Star Wars franchise.
Bautista is known for playing Drax in the MCU and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. He stars as Glossu Rabban in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, while his filmography further includes 2013’s Riddick, 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, 2021’s Army of the Dead, 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, 2023’s Knock at the Cabin, 2024’s The Last Showgirl, and more.
Momoa, meanwhile, is set to appear as Lobo in the DCU movie Supergirl, which arrives this summer. He also stars in the Dune movies, playing the character of Duncan Idaho, and previously portrayed Aquaman/Arthur Curry in the DCEU.
Momoa and Bautista now co-star in The Wrecking Crew, a new buddy cop action comedy movie directed by Ángel Manuel Soto that is available to stream on Prime Video.
What did Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista say about Star Wars?
Speaking to one another for Complex’s GOAT Talk, Momoa and Bautista were asked to pick the one franchise they’d want to join.
“We’re both Star Wars nerds,” Momoa said. “We’re both in Dune, which inspired Star Wars, but it wasn’t enough for us, was it?”
Momoa asked Bautista if he’d want to play a good guy or bad guy in the Star Wars franchise, to which Bautista responded, “Bad guy. It’s always more fun playing a bad guy.”
“Always,” Momoa agreed. “It looks like we’re going up for the same role.”
The next Star Wars movie will be The Mandalorian and Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau, that film, which serves as a continuation of the Disney+ Mandalorian series, arrives in United States theaters on May 22, 2026. After that comes Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter on May 28, 2027. A handful of other Star Wars movies are in development, though none of them have release dates at this time.
