Dave Bautista’s R-Rated Action Flop Becomes a Streaming Hit
Dave Bautista’s 2024 foray into the R-rated action genre may have faltered at the global box office, but the feature seems to have finally found success on a streaming platform. His high-octane thriller, The Killer’s Game, is currently making waves on HBO Max, resulting in renewed interest in the film across the internet.

Led by Dave Bautista, the 2024 action thriller is currently experiencing a surprise resurgence on HBO Max and other streaming platforms.
As per the numbers procured by FlixPatrol, The Killer’s Game has acquired a massive viewership count in Europe on HBO Max as of February 4, 2026, achieving the #1 rank in Moldova and Romania.
Additionally, the film has occupied the Top 4 positions in 11 other countries, resulting in an average ranking of 3.5 on HBO Max on the said day. On the global front, The Killer’s Game ranks 10th in overall movie rankings on the Warner Bros-owned streaming platform.
The Dave Bautista action flick is also performing considerably well on Amazon Prime Video, achieving #3 and #4 ranks in South Africa and the United Kingdom, respectively, on February 4.
The recent streaming success of The Killer’s Game stands in sharp contrast to its box-office performance, with the movie ending its theatrical run having accumulated less than $6 million worldwide, as per Box Office Mojo.
The film also received less than favorable reviews from critics upon its release, as evidenced by its underwhelming Tomatometer score of 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. Nevertheless, viewers seem to have resonated with Dave Bautista’s action thriller, having given it a Popcornmeter score of 79% on the review-aggregation website.
Directed by J.J. Perry, The Killer’s Game revolves around the misadventures of a veteran hit man, Joe Flood (Dave Bautista), who decides to put a hit out on himself after getting diagnosed with a terminal illness. Nevertheless, things soon get out of hand when contract killers start targeting his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), forcing him to wage a war against an army of assassins.
The Killer’s Game cast also features Terry Crews, Scott Adkins, Pom Klementieff, Marko Zaror, and Ben Kingsley, among others.
