Hugh Jackman’s Robin Hood Movie Sets Release Date With Teaser
A24 has set a summer release date for Hugh Jackman‘s upcoming Robin Hood movie. The Death of Robin Hood‘s release date was revealed in a new teaser that features the titular protagonist. The upcoming action-adventure drama, a gritty take on the famous medieval tale, is helmed by Michael Sarnoski. He previously directed Nicolas Cage’s drama film Pig and the apocalyptic horror movie A Quiet Place: Day One.
The Death of Robin Hood gets June release date and new teaser
A24 dropped a new teaser, shared on social media handles, for Hugh Jackman’s Robin Hood movie, The Death of Robin Hood. It will premiere in theaters on June 19, 2026. Interestingly, Toy Story 5 premieres on the same day. This dark and mature film will counter the more lighthearted children-oriented animated movie.
The teaser, just 14 seconds long, shows Jackman’s protagonist walking towards the camera before disappearing in a cloud of smoke. The very short footage concludes by showing the film’s title and release date.
The release date announcement comes one month after the official trailer, which offered a glimpse at the film’s story, was released. Following its release, Jackman’s look in the film prompted fans to draw comparisons between his older and rugged take on Robin Hood and his portrayal of an aging, dying Wolverine in James Mangold’s Logan.
The Death of Robin Hood is an adaptation of the 17th-century story, Robin Hood’s Death. The story follows the famous outlaw, who gets badly injured in a battle he believed would be his last. However, a mysterious woman finds him and saves his life, despite his urging to let him die.
Following his recovery, Robin Hood gets acquainted with the woman, with whom he opens up about his life of crime and murder. Around the same time, he grows close to a young girl, whom he promises to protect — effectively finding a pathway to redemption from his murky criminal past.
In addition to directing The Death of Robin Hood, Michael Sarnoski wrote the screenplay. Meanwhile, Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, and Alexander Black produced the film. Apart from Jackman, the movie stars Bill Skarsgård, Jodie Comer, Murray Bartlett, Faith Delaney, and Noah Jupe.
