Jake Gyllenhaal’s New Netflix Action Movie Is Like Collateral & Sicario

Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on for the leading role in the upcoming action thriller movie, titled Kill Switch. Netflix has also successfully picked up the rights to the project, which hails from Head of State writer Harrison Query.

What do we know about Netflix’s Kill Switch movie?

According to Deadline, Kill Switch is a blend of 2004’s Collateral and 2015’s Sicario, which are both action thrillers with Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Further details about its plot and characters are still under wraps. The Batman director Matt Reeves is producing the film with Lynn Harris through their 6th & Idaho banner. It will also be produced by Gyllenhaal and Josh McLauglin for Nine Stories, and Scott Glassgold for 12:01 Films, with Query serving as an executive producer.

This project marks the latest collaboration between Gyllenhaal and Query, who are both working together in Amazon MGM Studios’ political thriller film Code Black. It is based on Query’s short story of the same name. Besides Kill Switch, Query is also currently developing an A24 TV show for Netflix, titled Trigger Point, which received a straight-to-series order last November 2025. He also recently sold his spec script for the movie The Operator to Netflix, with Mark Wahlberg attached to lead.

Before starring in Kill Switch, Gyllenhaal will first be seen in his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming gothic crime movie The Bride!, which will debut on March 6. Later this year, he will also appear in Guy Ritchie’s action thriller In the Grey and M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller Remain. The Spider-Man: Far From Home actor will also reprise his role as Elwood Dalton in Amazon MGM Studios’ Road House 2.
