Best Action Movies on Tubi (February 2026)
Mention the name of Tubi to a movie buff and one might expect a variety of reactions. While boasting a sizeable library, some snobs scorn it for being ad-driven and more focused on popular entertainment than true cinema. This is odd, as the streaming service does feature arthouse fare as well. Still, their collection does favor those seeking a good Action Movie.
What are the best action movies on Tubi?
There are a variety of action movies to be found on Tubi. They include films from around the world, and old favorites alongside cheesy shlock. The following chronological list, however, is meant to showcase five movies that are undisputed classics of the genre.
Fist of Fury (1972)
In 1908, Chen Zhen (Bruce Lee) returns to Shanghai to marry his fiancée, Yuan Li’er. Sadly, the homecoming is marred by the sudden death of Chen’s martial arts master, Huo Yuanjia. Chen’s sorrow is transformed into anger, however, when his master’s funeral is disrupted by members of a rival Japanese dojo. Only the word of senior student Fan Junxia prevents Chen from seeking to avenge the insult then.
Later, Chen visits the rival dojo and defeats all the Japanese students and their master single-handedly. This might have ended matters, had Chen not heard rumors that the rival dojo had poisoned his beloved teacher. This leads Chen to take more and more extreme actions, coming into conflict with the police in his quest for revenge.
Fist of Fury was the second kung fu movie to star Bruce Lee and the first in which he served as action choreographer. It is noteworthy for possessing far more realistic fight scenes than many of the Hong Kong martial arts movies featured on Tubi. However, the movie has also been praised for its portrayal of early 20th century Shanghai and the historic issues of Japanese imperialism and racism.
Highlander (1986)
Since the dawn of time, Immortals have lived among humanity. They are forbidden from fighting on holy ground, and can only be killed by decapitation. Their origins are unknown and their purpose unclear, save for talk of a prize that awaits the last Immortal. All that is known for sure is that, “in the end, there can be only one.”
Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is one such Immortal, who was awakened to his power as a Scottish knight in 1536. Since that time, he has slain many of his kind. However, the final battle between the Immortals is nigh. Soon, MacLeod must face the warrior known as the Kurgan, who killed his mentor Ramirez (Sean Connery) centuries earlier.
Highlander was not a hit when first released in theaters. However, it soon developed a cult following on home video. Despite the film having a rather definitive ending, it sparked a sizeable franchise including sequels and tie-in movie series. It has also inspired a reboot film starring Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod and Dave Bautista as The Kurgan. It is unknown when this reboot will arrive in theaters, but the original is ready to be seen on Tubi today.
Die Hard (1988)
It’s Christmas Eve, and NYPD Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) is newly arrived in Los Angeles. He’s hoping to reconcile with his estranged wife, Holly, but first he must endure her company’s Christmas party. This turns out to be more of an ordeal than anticipated, as a team led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) seize control of Nakatomi Plaza.
Gruber’s plan is to fake a terrorist attack and use it to cover the theft of millions in bearer bonds. Unfortunately, the FBI and LAPD are playing right into Gruber’s hands. This leaves McClane fighting a one-man war within the building to save the hostages, including his wife.
The debate as to whether Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie may never be settled to anyone’s satisfaction. What cannot be denied, however, is that it is one of the best action movies to be found on Tubi today. Indeed, it is one of the greatest action movies of all time.
Die Hard benefits from a smart script by Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza and the intense direction of John McTiernan. It is the performances of the ensemble, however, that remain the most memorable aspect of the film. Alan Rickman played many great villains you love to hate, but his performance as Hans Gruber may be his most infamous. The movie also allowed Bruce Willis to establish himself as an action hero, having been most famous at the time for his work on the detective comedy drama Moonlighting.
Blind Fury (1989)
While serving in Vietnam, American soldier Nick Parker (Rutger Hauer) was blinded by an explosion. Thankfully, he was rescued by friendly villagers, who nursed him back to health. They also taught him how to use his other senses to replace his sight and how to use a sword.
Twenty years later, Parker returns to the United States in search of his old Army buddy, Frank. Instead, he finds Frank’s ex-wife, Lynn, Frank’s young son, Billy, and a whole heap of trouble. Soon, Parker is on the road to Reno, protecting Billy from kidnappers hoping to use him for leverage against Frank. This leads him to put his sword to the test, fighting the cartel that has taken Frank captive.
Blind Fury was a Western adaptation and modernization of the 1967 Japanese action movie Zatoichi Challenged. This movie was the 17th in a franchise based around the titular blind masseuse and gambler, who wandered Japan in the Edo period. However, Zatoichi was also secretly a master swordsman, who used his skills to protect and avenge those in need.
Apart from the change in setting, Blind Fury remains true to the classic Zatoichi aesthetic. Hauer recalled the role fondly in later years, noting the twin challenges of learning swordplay and accurately portraying a blind man. While not a big financial success, the film was praised by critics and given “Two thumbs up” by Siskel and Ebert.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)
Once upon a time, John and Jane Smith were a happy couple. He was a construction executive. She was an IT recruiter. They met in Columbia and were married after a whirlwind romance. Five years later, however, the shine is off the relationship and they are in therapy together.
Secretly, John (Brad Pitt) and Jane (Angelina Jolie) are both contract killers working for rival firms. They discover the truth of one another’s double lives after a botched mission chasing the same target. This leaves them wondering how much of their relationship is real and whether their spouse ever really loved them. It also leaves them on the run from their employers, after it is decided they are both loose ends that need cutting.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a smash hit upon release. For many years, it was the most profitable movie made staring either Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt. It was not as beloved by critics, but was praised by action fans for having some innovative stunt work. It has also proved popular enough to inspire an Amazon Prime series,
