Jason Momoa’s New Action Movie Is Dominating Streaming Wars Already

Jason Momoa’s new action thriller movie The Wrecking Crew has already generated a strong respeonse on streaming. It has climbed to the top of Prime Video’s global charts within days of its debut, suggesting that the film has quickly found its audience.

The Wrecking Crew tops Prime Video’s streaming chart

Prime Video’s new action comedy movie The Wrecking Crew, led by Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, has recorded strong viewership numbers since its debut.

The film arrived on the streaming service on January 28, 2026. It has since climbed to the top of Prime Video’s global movie rankings, according to tracking site FlixPatrol. The title has secured first place in several major territories, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland.

Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, the film follows Jonny and James, estranged half brothers who are forced back into each other’s lives after their father’s mysterious death. Their attempt to uncover what happened brings long running family conflicts to the surface while pointing toward a larger conspiracy. Set in Hawaii, the film combines large scale action with a focus on the complicated relationship between the two brothers.

Momoa and Bautista headline the cast as Jonny and James Hale. The film’s other cast members include Claes Bang as Marcus Robichaux, Temuera Morrison as Governor Peter Mahoe, Jacob Batalon as Pika, and Frankie Adams as Haunani “Nani” Palakiko among others. 

At the time of writing, The Wrecking Crew holds a 75 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 56 reviews. Meanwhile, viewers have rated the film at 68 percent. CBR wrote, “It is a fun popcorn flick that delivers adrenaline-fueled fun, a buddy cop dynamic, and great performances from Momoa and Bautista. While the plot may fail to impress, it still makes for a comfortable easy-to-stream movie that hearkens back to the simpler action films of the 80s.”

With its quick rise on international streaming charts, The Wrecking Crew has quickly become one of Prime Video’s most watched new releases this year.
