Bad News for Avengers: Doomsday & Spider-Man: Brand New Day Fans

Some bad news regarding Marvel Studios‘ highly anticipated films for 2026, Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has surfaced. A new report suggests that trailers for both films will reportedly not show up at Super Bowl LX. Notably, the event is expected to feature trailers for other major releases this year.

Avengers: Doomsday or Spider-Man 4 won’t show any new trailers at Super Bowl LX

Marvel Studios and Sony will reportedly be skipping Super Bowl LX. This means that official trailers for Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will not show up. Notably, this marks the first time in years that Marvel will be skipping the event (via Deadline).

Marvel Studios sitting out of the Super Bowl this year comes as a surprise. This is because they have never missed the massive annual championship game, always showing up with footage from their upcoming projects.

However, it’s unsurprising given Sony’s history: they have frequently skipped the Super Bowl, opting to launch film trailers at other times. Nonetheless, Sony could launch the Spider-Man 4 trailer online around this period, if not at a later date.

There is much anticipation for the release of both films, fueled only by rumors, theories, and plot leaks. Avengers: Doomsday will see Robert Downey Jr. return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, who will face an assortment of heroes comprising the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. The film will also see Chris Evans return as Steve Rogers, seven years after his last appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man return to the big screen for an adventure involving Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. It will also find the webslinger handling the challenges of his personal and superhero lives following the world-altering events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where everyone forgot his secret identity, thanks to Doctor Strange’s memory-wipe spell.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day premieres on July 31, 2026, followed by Avengers: Doomsday five months later on December 18, 2026. Doomsday’s release will be preceded by Endgame’s re-release in theaters on September 25, 2026.

Destin Daniel Cretton directed Brand New Day from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers’ screenplay. Meanwhile, Anthony and Joe Russo helmed Doomsday from Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely’s script. They also co-produced the film with Marvel Studios via their production banner, AGBO.
