What are the beloved zombie movies now available on Peacock?
Beginning today, 2009’s Zombieland and 2019’s Zombieland: Double Tap are now finally available to stream on Peacock. The popular franchise was led by Academy Award nominees Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games franchise), and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), along with Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things). The first installment received a Certified Fresh score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the sequel currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 68%.
The Zombieland franchise was directed by Ruben Fleischer, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick writing the screenplay. It also featured appearances from Bill Murray, Amber Heard, Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson, Avan Jogia, and Thomas Middleditch. Despite receiving a lower approval rating than the first installment, the 2019 sequel still surpassed its predecessor’s box office record, earning a global gross of over $122 million.
“After a virus turns most people into zombies, the world’s surviving humans remain locked in an ongoing battle against the hungry undead. Four survivors — Tallahassee and his cohorts Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock — abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles,” reads the first movie’s synopsis.
In a previous interview, Fleischer opened up about the possibility of making Zombieland 3, revealing that the creative team had actually already started discussing it.
“I’m hoping that we’ll do a Zombieland 3 in 2029,” he said. “We’re starting to talk about that because [the first] one was 2009, and then we did the second one in 2019, and we kind of left that one all saying, ‘We’ll see you in 10 years’ That’s coming up now, and so we’re starting to figure that out, so I’m hoping that’ll come together.”
