Keanu Reeves Classic & 3 More Epic Movies To Leave HBO Max Soon
Four popular movies are expected to leave HBO Max soon, including a fan favorite Keanu Reeves film, giving subscribers a limited time to watch them online. Speed, Midsommar, Misery, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are the four major films exiting the streaming platform in a couple of days. Two of the films found considerable success in their own ways in the 1990s. Meanwhile, the other two generated significant buzz in recent years.
Speed, Midsommar and more are leaving HBO Max
Speed, Midsommar, Misery, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are reportedly leaving HBO Max on February 1, 2026.
Out of the four movies that will leave HBO Max, however, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has found a new streaming home. The sci-fi action-adventure epic is expanding its audience reach by joining Hulu’s film and television catalog on February 2, 2026.
Speed, helmed by Jan de Bont in his debut feature directorial, follows LAPD officer Jack Traven, played by Keanu Reeves. In the film, he is assigned a mission to stop violent extortionist, Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper), who has rigged a city bus to explode if the speed drops below 50 miles per hour or 80 km/hr. Sandra Bullock appears in the film in a supporting role. She plays one of the city bus passengers, who teams up with Reeves’ Traven to save the others.
Meanwhile, Ari Aster wrote and directed Midsommar, starring Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor. The narrative follows an American couple who attend a nine-day midsummer festival in rural Sweden with their friends. However, they find themselves trapped in an intense yet bizarre and violent competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
Misery, directed by the late Rob Reiner from William Goldman’s screenplay, follows a famous novelist, Paul Sheldon (James Caan). His life changes one day when an obsessive fan, Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), rescues him from a car crash. She nurses him back to health but holds him captive until he finishes a novel resurrecting her favorite character.
Wes Ball directed Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes from Josh Friedman’s screenplay. Set years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes, the story follows Noa (Owen Teague), a young chimpanzee. He goes on an odyssey with a human woman, Mae (Freya Allan), to determine the future of both apes and humans. During their journey, the pair encounters situations touching upon the complex relationship between humans and apes.
