Live-Action Sakamoto Days gets first teaser footage with release date
The live-action film adaptation of Sakamoto Days has released its first teaser footage, highlighting scenes featuring “ORDER,” the top-tier assassin unit under the Japanese Association of Assassins.
The footage was published via the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 30, 2026, with the statement: “Special footage from the hitman world’s greatest force, ‘ORDER’ has been released ⚔️ Witness a number of scenes that exude overwhelming strength!” The film, starring Ren Meguro as Taro Sakamoto, will premiere in Japanese theaters on April 29, 2026.
Cast visuals for three ORDER members were also revealed. Takumi Kitamura plays Nagumo, a laid-back but highly skilled master of disguise. Kitamura said, “Sakamoto Days is a manga I’ve read since its serialization began… Even so, they entrusted me with the role, so I gave it my absolute all. I did my very best” (via Crunchyroll News).
Yusei Yagi, portraying Shishiba, commented, “Shishiba speaks Kyoto dialect, uses a nail hammer… As my absolute favorite character from the original manga, I feel deeply honored to be able to live the role.” His character often partners with Osaragi and is known for his cool demeanor and precise combat style.
Meru Nukumi plays Osaragi, a seemingly gentle rookie who uses a massive electric saw. Nukumi stated, “Osaragi’s charm lies in the striking contrast between her usual demeanor… and her fierce fighting style wielding a chainsaw. I gave my all to carefully portray every aspect.”
Yuichi Fukuda directs and writes the screenplay. The cast also features Fumiya Takahashi, Aya Ueto, Miyu Yoshimoto, Mayuu Yokota, Junki Tozuka, Akihisa Shiono, and Keisuke Watanabe. Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days manga has run in Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020.
